Restoration of 1920’s Undersea Mural

1998, Private Townhouse, New York, New York

The original mural was painted by Mr. Guinness of Ireland, a relation to the Owner of the Townhouse. When a workman accidentally knocked a section of wall away while updating some pipes, artist Angela Tirrell recreated the lost section and united it with the rest of original mural with a pale rose colored sponged background. There were no photos of the l920’s mural available, but a Guiness artist nephew thought the restoration “very nice indeed, and retaining the original feeling beautifully.”
